The Banco Central de la República Dominicana (Spanish: Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, BCRD) was created on 9 October 1947, pursuant to Monetary Law No. 1528. It began operations on 23 October 1947. The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic is the only institution authorized to issue banknotes and coins within the Dominican territory. Like previous note, but with different screen trap and printer imprint. According to a 6 November 2013 press release, 2,000-peso notes dated 2013 have not been issued and are not legal tender. The French banknote printer misplaced 8,403 new notes which apparently had unspecified production flaws. Oberthur claims that French police recovered approximately 2,300 notes, yet some of the rest (162 reported as of 7 November 2013) have found their way into circulation in the Dominican Republic with inkjet-printed serial numbers. The bank refuses to pay for the printing of these notes and is seeking compensation from Oberthur for damages caused by the problem.
