2015 Commemorative Issues

These 10-kina notes commemorate the XV Pacific Games with a special overprint of the XV Pacific Games logo above the Parliament House.
These 20-kina notes commemorate the 40th anniversary of the country with a special overprint of the 40th Anniversary of Papua New Guinea Independence and the National Bird of Paradise image above the Parliament House.
Both notes are physically smaller than the preceding issues, but otherwise the designs remain unchanged except for the addition of an Optical Variable Ink (OVI) element at upper right front that exhibits three transitional colors when the notes are tilted.

1991 South Pacific Games Commemorative Issues

This 2-kina note commemorates the hosting of the 9th South Pacific Games, which ran from 7 – 21 September 1991 in the cities of Port Moresby and Lae. In addition to the South Pacific Games logo (a stylized bird of paradise in national colors, designed by art student Miria Miria), the note features SPG 9 printed at lower left on front where a second serial number would normally appear. This is Papua New Guinea’s first polymer note.
