East Caribbean Currency Authority
Established in 1965, the East Caribbean Currency Authority (ECCA) was the successor to the British Caribbean Territories Currency Board. Over the years, the members have varied, a fact reflected by the different lists of countries/territories surrounding the watermark area on the back of the notes.
2024 Commemorative Issues
This note commemorates the 50th anniversary of Grenada’s independence from Britain. It was unveiled on 5 February 2024, but will not enter circulation until June 2024. It will be legal tender throughout the East Caribbean States.

2019 – 2020 Issues
On 5 September 2018, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank announced plans to introduce a new family of notes beginning in mid-2019. The new family retains the same denominations and color schemes as preceding issues, but with vertical orientation and new designs on polymer substrate for improved durability and security. They feature holographic windows and embossed tactile geometric shapes to allow the visually impaired to distinguish between denominations.

Outmoded Notes
2012 – 2015 Issues
On 24 April 2012, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank issued these Series 7 banknotes with tactile features in an effort to provide notes which are easier for blind and visually impaired persons to use.
The raised tactile characters on the upgraded notes feature a cricket theme in the form of stumps, bails, and balls. These characters have been added to the 10-, 20-, 50-, and 100-dollar notes. All the other features of the notes, including the watermark of Queen Elizabeth II, the security features and the images, remained the same as preceding issues until 10 April 2015, when Series 8 notes were introduced with 3-mm wide color-shifting StarChrome windowed security threads.

These Series 6 notes are like the preceding issues, but they do not have the bar codes or country code suffixes. Additionally, the fish at lower left front are intaglio printed and the serial number prefixes on the upgraded notes have two alpha characters instead of one. Finally, Cornerstone watermarks have been added.

These Series 4 notes are like the preceding issues, but with 1.2-mm wide Cleartext windowed security threads and foil patches on front, plus an abbreviated printer imprint and no frames at left on the back. Furthermore, the Central Bank building on the front of all denominations—as well as the back of the 100-dollar note—has been redesigned, and an electrotype ECCB has been added to the watermark, which now depicts a forward-facing Queen Elizabeth II instead of a profile.
